Never think about antibiotic has its source in the mud and dirt. Like Vancomycin a common antibiotic that was found in a dirt sample in 1952. The Eli Lilly company call it "Mississippi Mud". Each short chapter in the book is a story full of both disappointment and hope. The battle between human and super bugs is just under your feet!
It is like reading my second Bible. Anxiety, depression, death and faith... The author show us how he tackles each of these weighty topics in life from a existentialist's insight. Throughout the book there is one thing I can agree no more. "...life is not a romantic journey but a daunting trek..." While there is tons of silly and messy videos uploading on YouTube everyday, I really feel that I have no time for fun!

It is sad to learn that so many people has their adversity in childhood. The only comfort is one of them could become a saving hero in real life. A resilient person that can help himself and others.
這次東野圭吾帶給我的驚喜並不是懸疑的推理，卻是深刻細膩的感情。從本書的內容可見作者做了大量的資料搜集，詳細把腦死病人的境況展現在讀者面前。作者更在故事中逐一探討面對腦死的不同態度，相信只有曾經身處其中的人才能體會。

While most people think the mandate of a doctor is to save life, you may not aware that it is far more challenging and bewildering for a physician to let his patient to die with integrity and dignity. When life starts to become futile and empty, longevity is not a blessing.
